We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.-Mother Teresa
Recently I heard an episode of Raquelle Mantra´s podcast “Your own Magic” and she talks about that some people are a forest or an ocean person. I guess, I am both. I love to be close to the sea listening to the waves and smelling the fresh, salty air. However, I live in Austria and there is no sea close by. But luckily, another sacred place for me, is the forest. Being surrounded by trees, is one of the best ways to calm my mind.
I can remember a time when I thought, I was more like a city-kinda-girl. And yes, I guess, in a way I still am. But I need my time alone, close to mother earth. When I am in nature, I can feel a connection, no city could offer me yet.
We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.
But what is so special about spending time in nature?
In nature, I am more present. I live more in the now and I am far more open minded. Reconnecting to Mother Earth, was and still is a journey back to myself and a way to find inner peace.
But how can we reconnect with nature?
Here are my 3 favourite tools for it:
- Slow down to nature´s pace. When you walk through nature remember to walk in a mindful way. Breath slowly and you will instantly more relaxed. It will not only help you de-stress, but also will open your eyes to the beauty around you.
- Walk without shoes. I know this may be weird for some of you. But walking barefoot through nature is one of the most relaxing and grounding tools. Take off your shoes and take a few steps with your eyes closed. Feel the ground underneath your feet, the warmth of it and the air on your skin.
- Spend some time cloud watching. Who did not do this as a kid? I always loved lying in grass and watching the clouds move and change. I loved to make up my own little stories. Cloud watching clears the mind, opens up the heart to let in gratitude for nature and makes you feel present in the very moment.
Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better.
Forest therapy is nourishment for the heart and soul. Nature is a place to find not only yourself but also wisdom and inner peace. When we listen to ourselves, we know intuitively that nature is a healing, sacred place. But sadly, some of us, seem to have forgot this. When you go outside then relax, breathe in deep, feel good and simply listen to nature´s free concert.
I am writing this blog post after a nice walk through nature. I try to go for a walk every day. Sometimes I listen to music or a podcast. Sometimes I go with a friend and sometimes I go outside just by myself. It is not always easy to find time for those walks in a busy schedule, but I try to plan it more and more into my daily routine. Sometimes I also wake up around 5.30 am, just to have enough time for my walk. I would love to know, if you spend time in nature on a daily basis and if not, why not give it a try? Feel free to share your experiences with Mother Nature in the comments.
Lots of Love & Light,
